Medically supervised ibogaine · Cancún, Mexico

About Beond

Ibogaine helped one of us years ago. During COVID, we saw too many people with nowhere good to go for it. So we built one.

Beond is a medically supervised ibogaine clinic in Cancún, Mexico. We pair ibogaine treatment with medical screening, continuous monitoring, and coaching before and after, and we tell you directly what ibogaine can and cannot do.

Our story

Why we built Beond

Years ago, ibogaine helped our co-founder Talia Eisenberg. Our CEO and co-founder, Tom Feegel, came from long-term recovery and his own trauma. Both had seen what ibogaine could do for people, and how it was too often given: without screening, without monitoring, without anyone at the bedside who knew what to do if something went wrong.

During COVID, we saw many people struggling who had no quality place to receive ibogaine. So in 2021 we started building one: ibogaine under physician supervision, with the medical care it demands and the warmth people need to go through it.

The medicine

Where ibogaine comes from

Ibogaine comes from the root bark of iboga, a shrub from Central Africa.

Its use as an addiction treatment goes back to the 1960s, when Howard Lotsof reported that it interrupted his own opioid withdrawal and cravings. Researchers have since studied it in animals and in small human studies, and clinics outside the United States have offered it.

Beond provides ibogaine treatment under medical supervision.

Our care

Our care

Every guest follows the same five steps:

  1. Preparation

A coach works with you from home before you travel.

  2. Screening and arrival

A physician reviews your heart, labs, and medications, before you book and again when you arrive.

  3. Ibogaine treatment

A medically supervised session, with bedside monitors tracking heart rhythm, heart rate, and oxygen saturation continuously.

  4. Acute integration

On site, daily group workshops and one-on-one coaching, alongside adjunct therapies: daily massage, watsu, breathwork, bodywork, yoga, meditation, sound healing, acupuncture, and fitness. You also have the support of a community of guests going through it with you.

  5. Long-term support

After you're home: one-on-one coaching that you can continue as long as you need it, free weekly group coaching, and Beond Circle, our private community integration platform for alumni.

Who we treat

We offer a program for personal growth and clarity, and we also treat people with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic dependence on opioids, alcohol, prescription medications, and other substances.

Our principles

What we believe

Medicine first.

Licensed physicians make every clinical decision, including dosing.

Honesty over enrollment.

During our medical screening, before anyone is approved for treatment or books travel, roughly 1 in 5 people who express interest in Beond are told ibogaine isn’t right for them. We tell them why, and we do our best to offer other options to explore.

Ibogaine is an opportunity, not a cure.

What happens afterward matters as much as the treatment, so we help you plan for home before you leave.

Rest is part of the treatment.

You’ll have your own room to come back to, daily massage and watsu, fresh food from our chefs, pools, and quiet. These aren’t extras. Your body and mind are doing hard work here, and they need care to do it.

Care planned around you.

We have about four staff for every guest, and we don’t treat people in cohorts. Your physician plans your doses and timing for you, and most guests have more than one session with the medicine, so there’s time to rest, reground, and return with new questions.
